Short History
This Government Degree College is situated in the Holy District Varanasi at Jakkhini in the hamlet of Holy river maa Ganges, 25 KM away from Cantt Station Varanasi and 11 KM away from Rajatalab, a market located on Varanasi-Allahabad Highway. This college is founded by an eminent personality, great Scholar named Late Pt. Rhishi Narayan Shastri of Jakkhini village on dated July 13, 1972. Government Degree College, Jakkhini, Varanasi is one of the oldest basically 3rd Government institution of Higher Education Department of Uttar Pradesh. We are governed by State Government of Uttar Pradesh and follow its norms and policies. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi (U.P.), and follows the curriculum, guidelines and ordinance stipulated by it.

Vision:
Imparting higher education to the students of rural, economically and socially backward sections of the society at their doorsteps at minimal economic cost through optimal utilization of available resources with the vision of a new world in which relationships are governed by the spirit of universal fraternity.

Mission:
The motto of this institution has been, besides education, bringing the spark of knowledge to young minds, and rapidly inculcating confidence, its main aim is to inculcate values among the students and live up the expectations of a good life. Our college is contributing to the national developmental process by catering the needs of students belonging to rural poor and weaker section by providing quality education, fostering the competence, employable life skills inculcating moral and ethical values, community awareness and overall personality development.
Currently Government has provided two Under Graduate Faculties i.e. Faculty of Arts and Faculty of Agriculture. There are seven (07) U.G. courses i.e. Hindi, English, Political Science, History, Sociology, Sanskrit and Economics are successfully running in Faculty of Arts (B.A.) by the eminent and experienced faculty members; and twelve (12) U.G. courses i.e. Entomology, Plant Pathology, Agriculture Engineering, Agronomy, Soil Science, Horticulture, Agriculture Economics, Agriculture Extension, Animal Husbandry and Milk Production, Plant Genetics and Breeding, Agriculture Botany and Soil Conservation are successfully running in Faculty of Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag.) by the eminent and experienced faculty members.
Being a Government College, education is not expensive, will established in rural arena so students take benefits of its localities. The college has maintained its discipline, catering local need for standard of education, equalitarian environment for students and supervision by experienced faculty members.
